Whitechapel To Join Atreyu On Tour

On March 29, 2019, influential metal band Whitechapel released their 7th full-length studio album, The Valley, via Metal Blade Records.  The album was produced by Mark Lewis, who has worked with the band since the 2012 self-titled release Whitechapel.  The album has received positive reviews and charted in the top 10 on Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart.  Critics agree the album is the most emotional and the darkest music the band has released in their career.  Whitechapel has perfectly mixed complex, progressive and melodic elements to create an artistic masterpiece.

The subject matter is very personal for vocalist Phil Bozeman, as the lyrics reference his hometown of Hardin Valley, Tennessee and addresses his childhood experiences and the hardships he endured.  The lyrics for the song “Forgiveness is Weakness” reflects the powerful anger that stays with a person following a childhood of abuse.  In “Brimstone”, the chorus “Kill, Torture, Terrorize, Welcome to my mind”, along with the line “You’ve confirmed to me the world isn’t sage”, continues to capture the festering anger that haunts those who have suffered abuse and found a way to cope in adulthood.

Most of the songs on The Valley, including “The Other Side”, “Third Depth” and “Lovelace” to name a few, address the lasting repercussions and metal illness that afflicts someone who endured childhood abuse.  The entire album powerfully reveals unresolved anger, but the songs also reveal a significant amount of vulnerability.  The Valley shows an evolution in the band’s sound with atmospheric music enhancing vocals that will strike deeply with fans; it is truly one of Whitechapel’s best albums.

In August, it was announced that Whitechapel would be joining Atreyu for a fall tour celebrating Atreyu’s 20th anniversary.  Other bands joining the tour include He Is Legend, Tempting Fate and Santa Cruz.  The fall tour will kick-off on October 19, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada at Las Rageous Festival.  Before heading to Las Vegas, Whitechapel are wrapping up a few dates with Frost Koffin, with stops in Houston and Tyler, Texas, as well as Oklahoma City.  Fans can head over to the Whitechapel website for tour dates and to purchase tickets.
