Sevendust on the Road in 2019 Including Stop at Rocklahoma

02/18/19 – By:  Addie Hayes, Editor/Lead Writer, Regional Music Journal

Hard rock band Sevendust released their twelfth studio album, All I See Is War, on May 11, 2018.  Three singles from the album have been released, including “Dirty”, which reached number 17 on the Billboard US Mainstream Rock chart.  The band has also released a video for “Dirty”.  The other two singles are “Unforgiven”, released on August 28, 2018, and “Risen”, released January 23, 2019.  Sevendust chose to work with music producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette as a way of creating a renewed sound.  Baskette has previously worked with Stone Temple Pilots, Incubus, Chevelle and many more.  The album marks Sevendust’s first release with Rise Records.

The single “Dirty” has the signature Sevendust sound, with heavy guitars and powerful, aggressive vocals.  The album also contains what many consider a ballad in the track “Not Original”.  The song showcases Lajon Witherspoon’s soulful vocal range.  Tracks like “Unforgiven” and “Descend” are reminiscent of the band’s earlier sound.  “Cheers” incorporates grinding guitar riffs, while “Medicated” delivers strong, bold guitars.  All I See Is War is a clean, tight production and any of the songs could make their way onto the radio.

On the album, Sevendust addresses the current state of affairs in the U.S., primarily the divisiveness that is plaguing our country.  Much of the subject matter is dark, but the band has also included a message of hope and moving forward to a more positive place.  Sevendust is known for their close connection with each other and in turn with their fans.  These bonds have driven their success since the very early days and it only makes sense for the band to write an album to bring people together.

Sevendust will be on the road with Tremonti through February 2019 to promote the album.  In April the band will head to New Zealand and Australia before returning to North America and kicking off a month long tour with In This Moment in May 2019.  It has also been announced that Sevendust will appear at Rocklahoma 2019 over Memorial Day Weekend in Pryor, Oklahoma.
