As we get closer to Rocklahoma 2017, Regional Music Journal will cover all the bands from our region who are performing this year.  We’re excited to see these bands perform live and covering all the action at the festival.  Today we’re presenting you with Nicnōs, from Oklahoma City, OK, and Paralandra, from Springfield, MO.

Oklahoma City Quintet Nicnōs perfectly blends rock, and blues, in addition to folk and bluegrass elements to produce one of the more unique sounds you’ll find in the Oklahoma music market.  Their debut self-titled album was released in 2014 and their most recent effort, Nicnōs II, in April 2016.  With standouts performances on “Water”, “Can’t Buy This”, and “My Last December”, the band displays a full range of their diverse repertoire.  This diversity is what makes Nicnōs such an appealing band.  They excel during live performances, with flawless delivery and a high-energy style to engage the audience, ultimately resulting in fantastic entertainment.  As veterans of Rocklahoma, the band is familiar with their audience and have delivered stellar performances in the past.  They are one of the more anticipated performers at this year’s festival and Regional Music Journal will be reviewing their show this year.  Stop by their website at for band updates and to find out where you can purchase their newest album Nicnōs II.

Paralandra out of Springfield, Missouri, are a hard rock band fronted by powerhouse vocalist, Casandra Carson.  With her a strong delivery, including the perfect mix of melody, pitch and raw engery (listen to “Gravity”), Carson takes command of every song and provides the perfect centerpiece for this band.  But Carson isn’t a one woman show, guitarist Paul Carson, drummer Nick Gray and bassist Sawyer Rikard all come together to produce high quality, original hard rock which has lead the band to opening slots for acts such as Fuel, Hinder, Scott Weiland and others.  Their debut album Rise Up, released in June 2014 brought the band much deserved attention with a performance at Millennium Music Conference in 2015 along with various honors and awards.  Their most recent release, EP All Fall Down, released March of 2016, offers up more dynamic songs.  The band was included in the 2016 SXSW showcase and has continued to receive high praise and accolades from the industry and fans alike.  Visit their website at to find out where to purchase their music.

Rocklahoma 2017 is shaping up to be a great opportunity for bands from our region and Regional Music Journal will be there to cover all these bands.  We’ll continue our countdown next week with coverage of more bands slated to perform at this years’ festival.
