Rocker Suzi Quatro Announces New Album and Tour

By:  Addie Hayes, Editor/Lead Writer, Regional Music Journal

In 1973 Suzi Quatro released her self-titled debut album Suzi Quatro.  At the time no one could predict the level of success she would gain or how much of an influence she would become in the rock music scene.  Quatro crushed stereotypes by becoming the first female bass player to become a major rock star.  She influenced female musicians such as Talking Heads bassist Tina Weymouth, KT Tunstall and most notably, Joan Jett.

Quatro has been a working musician for more than fifty years.  Over her career she has released sixteen studio albums, one live album and ten compilation albums.  She has produced hits like, “Can The Can”, “48 Crash”, “Devil Gate Devil” and “If You Can’t Give Me Love” to name a few.  On October 24, 2013, she received the Woman of Valor Award from Musicians for Equal Opportunities for Women, due to her status as a role model who has inspired and influenced female musicians.

On March 29, 2019, Quatro’s new album No Soul/No Control will be released.  The album contains eleven new songs, as well as two bonus tracks.  She collaborated with her son Richard Tuckey on the majority of the material.  In a recent press release, Quatro said, “this was our first attempt at writing and recording something together.”
