Liliac Coming to Oklahoma City

By:  Addie Hayes, Editor/Lead Writer, Regional Music Journal

Rock band Liliac is made up of siblings Samuel, Abigail, Melody, Ethan and Justin Cristea.  They started out performing popular covers from legendary artists like Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio, Metallica and Iron Maiden to name a few.  The band has now honed their skills and found their sound.  2019 saw the release of their EP Chain of Thorns, which contains original music.  The EP contains a magnificent set of songs.  The title track “Chain of Thorns” is hard hitting and infectious, while “Not Afraid” grabs your attention with Melody Cristea’s powerful vocal performance.  Her sister Abigail Cristea matches her powerful vocals with heavy drums.

The standout track “Dancing in the Dark” showcases the musicians at their best.  The group’s hard work is truly paying off and “Dancing in the Dark” reveals their growth not only as individual musicians, but also the cohesion they have developed as a band.  The other songs on the EP, “Mars”, “Mythical Creature” and “Hit The Lights” are equally impressive and prove Liliac are heading for a long career in the music industry.

When Liliac performs in Oklahoma City, local favorites Kirra will be providing opening support.  Earlier in the year, Kirra released their single “Sixteen Suns” which helped pave the way for talks with Eclipse Records.  The band has been working on new material throughout the summer and expect to release the new album via Eclipse Records.  Over the past few years, Kirra has toured nationally with artists including Saving Abel, Soil, Nothing More, Sevendust and Tremonti.  They also performed at Rocklahoma 2019.

The show at 40 West in Oklahoma City is sold out and will be an exciting night of entertainment.  If you missed out on tickets for the show at 40 West, Liliac will also be performing in Wichita, Kansas at Chicken N Pickle on Friday 10/18/19 and in Great Bend, Kansas at Rock-N-Q on the Planes on Saturday 10/19/19.
