In Flames Heading to North America for Fall 2019 Tour

By:  Addie Hayes, Editor/Lead Writer, Regional Music Journal

Swedish metal outfit In Flames are heading to North America with dates scheduled throughout November and December.  The tour is in support of their new album I, the Mask, which was released on March 1, 2019.  The album has done well worldwide and broke into the US Billboard 200 charts.  In Flames music has evolved since the band was founded in 1990.  The most notable shift in their style happened with the release of their sixth studio album, Reroute and Remain.  While their early fanbase rejected the new direction in the band’s music, it allowed In Flames to attract new fans and broaden their reach within the metal scene.

In Flames have received three Grammis Award nominations, the Swedish equivalent to the US Grammy Awards.  The band won two of the awards, the first was the 2004 Hard Rock/Metal Performance of the year for the album Soundtrack to Your Escape.  Their second award was for Best Hard Rock Album in 2007 for Come Clarity.  In Flames also won the Best International Band award in 2008 at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.

In Flames continue to deliver strong metal albums and have proven to be a very influential band, especially in the metalcore subgenre.  They have influenced artists such as Darkest Hour, As I Lay Dying and Still Remains.  However, they have also had an impact on melodic death metal bands such as Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum and Blood Stain Child based on their earlier music.

In Flames Fall 2019 North American tour will kick off on November 2nd in Wichita, Kansas and wrap up just before Christmas on December 20th in Dallas, Texas.  You can head over to In Flames website to purchase tickets to upcoming shows.
