Over the course of more than three decades, metal band Corrosion of Conformity have released ten studio albums, the most recent album, No Cross No Crown, was released on January 12, 2018. Aside from two brief hiatuses, the first from 1987 to 1992 and the second from 2006 to 2010, the band has stayed busy either recording new music or touring. Corrosion of Conformity have done well on Billboard charts, most noticeably on the US Top Heatseekers chart. Their 1991 album Blind reached number 24 on the chart, while Deliverance from 1994 and Wiseblood from 1996 reached number 5 and number 2, respectively. Later albums such as America’s Volume Dealer from 2000 reached number 18, In the Arms of God peaked at number 1, and Corrosion of Conformity in 2012 and IX in 2014 both reached number 5.
Corrosion of Conformity started as a hardcore punk band before evolving into the metal machine they are today. Like many independent bands in the mid 1980s, COC drew from early influences like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, as well as hardcore groups like Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Minor Threat, to push the boundaries of the metal genre. What resulted was an innovative style of music that has gone on to inspire younger generations to continue to evolve and challenge people’s perception of the metal genre.
In early 2019, Corrosion of Conformity announced their summer tour schedule which saw the band teamed with Crowbar, Lo-Pan and Quaker City Night Hawks. Before heading out on the road, they made a stop at Rocklahoma in Pryor Oklahoma to perform during the opening day of the three day festival. In July, they announced fall tour dates with The Skull, Mothership and Witch Mountain. On October 1st, the band will stop in Dallas, Texas to perform at Canton Hall, then head to House of Rock in Corpus Christi and Jakes Sports Café in Lubbock, before appearing at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
